Welcome to the SRD Health Home Page

Important Notice: The Department of Education and the Passaic County Department of Health have established guidelines and recommendations to prepare and manage this year’s influenza season. Please complete a RETURN TO SCHOOL NOTE if your child has been absent with a fever. Kindly escort her or him to the nurse when returning to school after a febrile illness with the completed form. After reviewing the form, the nurse will approve or deny your request to return to school as per the set guidelines.  This note is also available in Spanish.

CDC Warns Not to Give Aspirin to Children With H1N1 Flu

The fall and winter seasons bring germs, and illnesses may be sure to follow. Sore throats and stomach aches have been the primary cause of student visits to the SRD nurse within the past few months and are caused by both viruses and bacteria.  A visit to your healthcare provider will determine if a sore throat is caused by a virus, in which case, only the discomfort of the symptoms can be treated; or by the strep bacteria that requires antibiotic therapy to kill the strep and stop the contagion. Please be assured that Mrs. Glaab has contacted the custodial staffs who are being proactive by disinfecting all classrooms to contain the spread of the germs. Please remind your children to cover their sneezes and cough with their sleeves. Keep children home until fevers have returned to normal for twenty-four hours, and refer to the CDC Strep Throat Fact Sheet as needed.
