Our second graders have been very busy this first month of school! We based many of our reading, writing, and social studies activities around the theme of "All About Me/ I Am Special". We had fun learning a lot about each other and about ourselves. In math, we have been practicing addition strategies and adding numbers to 18. We enjoyed celebrating Johnny Appleseed's birthday with some apple graphing, story sharing, and learning about the growth cycle of an apple tree. Finally, we have been exploring our community with discussions and projects about community helpers and places we visit around our community.
